Why work with me?

I know the Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology Industries. Today, I am recognized as the country’s leading expert in prescription drug advertising and promotion regulation, working with professionals in regulatory, marketing, legal, medical, R&D, communications, and other disciplines. I am a successful entrepreneur, having successfully consulted with over 400 life sciences companies over 23 years. Through all of my work, I have been a passionate student of the pharmaceutical/biotech industries, driven by a desire to fully understand them from the inside and out. 

It is really the totality of my career, though, that has uniquely positioned me to serve as an executive coach/strategic advisor for senior executives in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. I have reinvented myself several times, the one consistent being I was always an intrapreneur even before I became an entrepreneur – working to drive positive change in all circumstances.

Some examples of my relevant experiences are below. I have served as:

  • A sales representative, national sales trainer, and district sales manager in the pharmaceutical industry, working for Bristol Myers Squibb for 7 years. 

  • The Director of both the Division of Drug Marketing, Advertising and Promotion (DDMAC) and the Office Director of the Office of Training and Communications (OTCOM) in FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), successfully leading both a turn-around (DDMAC) and a start- up (OTCOM). 

  • The head of change management and leadership development for CDER, serving as one of the primary leads in transforming CDER’s review process, innovatively taking CDER from one of the slowest review organizations in the world, to one of the fastest

  • The head of  leadership development of all CDER senior leaders.

  • The lead for  CDER’s internal and external communication strategies and executions, revolutionizing the Center’s relationship with consumers and professionals. 

  • The Vice President for Leadership Development at The Council for Excellence in Government, a non-profit organization charged with developing government senior leaders to become more successful and impactful government servants.

  • The leader of one of Deloitte’s Life Sciences practices, responsible for building the organization, acquiring and serving clients, and creating trusted relationships with the clients we served – providing the highest quality consulting advice in the industry. 

  • The developer and facilitator of a highly successful immersive leadership training program for women in the pharmaceutical industry. And, along the way, I have always mentored women at all levels, challenging them to reach their fullest potential, as they define it.

  • The Founder and President of Lucy Rose and Associates, LLC, a global boutique regulatory consulting firm to the life sciences industry.

  • I have delivered over 150 keynote and other speeches relevant to leadership and the life sciences sector

My academic path has underpinned and advanced this work, enabling my ability to work and coach, cross-functionally:

  • I hold a BS degree in biology from Salem College, graduated from Wake Forest University  as a physician assistant, and earned an MBA with a focus on marketing from Averett University.

  • I completed executive leadership development programs offered by the University of Virginia, the Center for Creative Leadership, the Federal Executive Institute, and the Federal Government Western Management Development Center. 

  • Perhaps most importantly, I am passionate about this work – 100% committed to helping senior executives grow and lead their organizations to unimagined success.

Relevant awards and honors:

  • Twice honored with the FDA’s Award of Merit for leadership (the highest FDA leadership award)

  •  Was selected to the Hall of Fames of both DTC Perspectives and PHAME

  • Was recognized as one of the nation’s leading Healthcare transformers in 2016 by Medical, Marketing and Media.

  • Honored by FDLI and the Drug Information Association for work with both organizations
